Paris: the Mura and C100 armchairs enhance the Hermione auditorium, the executive centre born from the transformation of late 19th-century buildings

The seats furnish the spacious, high-tech room within the newly created avant-garde spaces, the result of a complex renovation effort

Paris, ninth arrondissement, rue La Fayette, just a short distance from the Opéra theatre, Saint-Lazare station and the grand Haussmannian boulevards. These are the coordinates of Hermione, a large office complex born from the revitalisation of late 19th-century buildings. The project was commissioned by Crédit Agricole Immobilier Service and designed by French atelier Bouchaud Architectes.

The four buildings, originally constructed for ‘Le Petit Journal’, the illustrious French newspaper of that time, have been revitalised following a thorough renovation project. This effort carefully integrates historical features with contemporary design, enabling the new offices to meet ambitious environmental and safety standards. This is how state-of-the-art workplaces are created, focusing on stimulation, comfort, and the well-being of the occupants. The site spans 18,500 square metres and is designed to accommodate 1,750 people. It includes three open-air courtyards and six terraces, aligned with the city’s greening initiatives and bringing natural light into the interiors.

The main entrance hall is monumental and conceived as both a workspace and meeting area. The spaces offer great flexibility, including a large auditorium with a control room for audio-visual management, and the option to follow conferences from an adjacent multifunctional space. Contributing to the space’s elegance is the refined design and attention to detail of the C100 armchairs designed by Baldanzi & Novelli.

The seats were chosen in the low-back version, with full-length side panels and equipped with a writing tablet and dual socket (French-standard power outlet and USB). The armchairs are installed with a centre-to-centre spacing of 56–57 cm. The structures are painted in semi-matt black. The upholstery, in flame-retardant treated real leather, is also in dark tones. The supply is completed by seven Mura – Gino Gamberini armchairs, each equipped with a writing tablet and dual socket. The colours are made uniform by the same flame-retardant treated leather upholstery and by the semi-matt black painted floor-anchored feet.
