Genya armchairs “dress” the auditorium of Banca Mediolanum’s historic headquarters
Elegance and functionality with the award-winning LAMM
In Milano 3 – the garden city built between the 1980s and 1990s in the southern part of Milan’s Agricolo park – Palazzo Meucci, the historic headquarters of Banca Mediolanum, is being brought back to life. The renovation and repurposing project is by architect Dante O. Benini, a pupil of Carlo Scarpa and Oscar Niemeyer, and the author of projects spread across the globe.

In the historic palace, built as one of the service centres that were to make the new district functionally independent, the auditorium stands out, embellished by the elegant lines of Genya – Dante Bonuccelli, the award-winning chair by LAMM, winner of the 2009 Good Design Award, Best of NeoCon 2009 and honourable mention at the 22nd edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro, the oldest and most prestigious award for excellence in design.

The minimalist design – accentuated in the closed configuration, where all components are concealed within the volume – adds a refined touch to the new environment. Elegance, but also technology and practicality with the patented synchronised movement with soft-close mechanism for opening the seats and armrests. The 92 seats, arranged in straight rows with a centre distance of 58 cm, are upholstered in beige faux leather and use only FSC® C134805 certified wood, sourced from responsibly managed forests.

The supply is completed by 12 foldable OnTime armchairs by Baldanzi & Novelli, chosen in the version with double swivel castors and beige faux leather upholstery, like the Genya seats. OnTime, suitable for environments that require flexibility, folds up thanks to the overlapping of the seat backrest and sides, making it easy to move and store after use.
