The C100 armchairs for the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, the oldest university in the Western world

The seats, equipped with electrical sockets and writing tables, are installed to preserve the existing architectural features of the historical building, in the centre of Ravenna

The simple elegance of the C100 armchairs by Baldanzi & Novelli perfectly complements the antique surroundings. This armchair, one of LAMM’s most versatile, was selected for the Aula Bovini at Ravenna campus of Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, the oldest university in the Western world, which boasts eminent intellectuals like Umberto Eco and Giosuè Carducci among its former professors.

Renovated in line with the designs by Teprin Associati studio, the classroom is incorporated within the headquarters’ organisational unit, which houses the faculty and technical-administrative offices, alongside the computer and materials laboratories, and the archaeology library. Traditionally the home of the Traversari family, the lords of Ravenna celebrated by Dante, this 13th-century building is protected for its historical and cultural significance.

In the aula Bovini, the 122 seats were arranged in straight rows on the floor, mounted on a beam to prevent damage to the flooring. The first-row seats are equipped with tip-up foldaway writing tables with anti-panic movement. For the remaining rows, the support surface consists of tip-up backrest tables with a soft closing system (Patent Pending). Each table is equipped with an electrical outlet located on the side panels. In the first row only, the sockets are also present on the beam.

All upholstery is CertiPUR® certified, ensuring environmental sustainability, safety, and health standards for the polyurethane foams used. The wood used is sourced from responsibly managed, FSC® certified forests in compliance with strict environmental, social, and economic standards (FSC® C134805).

Flexa armchairs for the Aula Maggiore “Roberto Franceschi” at Bocconi University

The seats contribute to recreating the essential lines and rigorous interiors envisioned by Giuseppe Pagano, perfectly aligning with a project aimed at excellence in acoustics, technology, and attention to detail

Bocconi University—an outstanding European institution for studies in economics, management, political science, law, and computer science—is renovating the Aula Maggiore of its first building, “Sarfatti 25”, inspired by the Bauhaus building in Dessau by Walter Gropius and designed by Giuseppe Pagano, a pivotal figure in the architectural movement towards Rationalism.

Named after Roberto Franceschi, a Bocconi student who lost his life in 1973 during clashes in front of the University, the lecture hall has undergone regulatory and technological renovation works aimed at inclusiveness and high acoustic performance, based on a design by the Milan-based studio Avenue Architects. The renovation wanted to preserve distinctive features of the original architecture: attention to detail and essential, rigorous lines for the interiors.

Arranged in straight rows on a sloped floor to eliminate architectural barriers, the 360 Flexa – Dante Bonuccelli armchairs play a key role in meeting these objectives. The seats are available in various configurations, reflecting a focus on both detail and flexibility. The first-row seats feature an enlarged side to house tip-up foldaway writing tables with anti-panic movement. The remaining seats, featuring integrated writing tables and power outlets in the backrest, were designed with narrower sides. All the armchairs are made from 100% FSC® C134805 certified wood from responsibly managed forests and upholstered in faux leather. Seats and rows were numbered using brass elements.

The supply also included four special modules for people with disabilities, without seats and equipped with extended sides that incorporate writing surfaces. Lastly, LAMM installed a fixed platform with both flat and sloped sections, consisting of a metal structure and plywood panels with a pre-finished oak wood finish.

The L213 armchairs for the renovated and high-tech conference room of the CNA in Ravenna

Supply of 132 seats for the conference room combining comfort, functionality, technology, and design

A state-of-the-art conference room, renovated in the year that marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the association. The LAMM’s L213 armchairs form part of the upgraded conference room at the National Confederation of Craftsmen and Small and Medium Enterprises (CNA) in Ravenna. The room is named after Luigi Bedeschi, a key figure in the organisation who played a pivotal role in advancing crafts and entrepreneurship.

The L213 armchairs from R&D LAMM were chosen for the room. They offer maximum comfort, thanks to the coordinated recline of the seat and backrest, which ensures an ergonomic seating position. Attention to detail, essential design, and comfort characterize the 132 seats, upholstered in grey faux leather, arranged with a 56 cm centre-to-centre space. The armchairs were installed with straight sides, fully padded, and anchored by black-painted steel feet.

The extensive experience already acquired, both in Italy and internationally, in designing conference spaces for prestigious associations and companies, continues to expand. Examples include the rooms designed for Ulteam, an office complex in the heart of Paris, resulting from the restoration and renovation of a hôtel particulier— an elegant urban villa typical of French nobility and the wealthy bourgeoisie. Other examples are the Genolier Innovation Hub, a centre of excellence dedicated to healthcare research and innovation near Geneva, and the Jut Group headquarters in Taipei (Taiwan), housed in a building designed by the esteemed MVRDV studio.
