C100
The elegantly designed C100 armchair by Baldanzi & Novelli was chosen for the 500-seat amphitheatre classroom at the Jussieu Campus in Paris. Overlooking the banks of the Seine at the heart of the City of Lights, the stronghold is the main campus of Pierre & Marie Curie University, a French centre of excellence in the fields of medicine, science and mathematics. The project, led by Parisbased firm Architecture Studio, included renovating the outdoor spaces and the large indoor amphitheatre classroom, where C100 armchairs were installed. These have low backrests and sides reaching down to the floor, and are equipped with a gravity-driven system that self-brakes when the seat tips back up.
